Diet and exercise need to be balanced in order to achieve successful weight loss. You can exercise as much as you'd like but if you are not eating healthy, you will not receive the full benefit of weight loss, and vice versa. We can educate you on ways to incorporate healthy eating into your lifestyle and create an individualized plan to achieve your goals.
My expertise is specialized in helping people overcome the diet demons. Develop greater joy in dining using techniques I provide. Working together we will shift the emphasis from dieting and restraint to dining with joy and comfort. This powerful change comes from doing things differently with foods, portions, dining and connection with your appetite.
If you struggle with cravings and the diet merry-go-round, you should know that I see my clients lose weight without having to battle cravings and live a healthy, happy life.
Nothing feels worse than bloated guts.
Trying to work out which food or drink is the problem (irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis) is even harder on your own. This is where my expert knowledge of the FODMaPs diet, lactose intolerance, gluten free diets, amines, salicylates, glutamates, preservatives and colourings can help.
Getting the diagnosis right and in a practical way is the tricky part. Diagnosistic tools may involve an elimination diet followed by a food challenge phase. The final phase is important as it is about expanding your diet, then setting you up for managing your dietary intake and preventing symptoms.
In Australia dietitians are an accredited profession requiring completion of an approved degree qualification in nutrition and dietetics. The Dietitian's Association of Australia accredit dietitians through continuing professional development of 30hrs every year.
Whereas a Nutritionist is not an accredited profession. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist or weight loss coach.
As part of your medical team, Margaret Artist , is an experienced dietitian.
Qualified in 1996, Margaret has a whole lot of life experience to add to her ongoing professional development.
As a mum and someone with a food intolerance she is also a carer of a special needs child. Currently her interests are in mindfulness, obesity, type 2 diabetes , high cholesterol, food intolerances and nutrition in our childhood, middle age and senior years.
Every year dietitians do 30 hours of professional development. During 2018 my development and training has been in paediatric nutrition (kids), with updates on coeliac disease and the gluten free diet, fussy eating and eating competency with the Ellyn Satter Institute. I also attended the Dietitian's Association of Australia conference in Sydney over three days and was very interested in experts discussing nutritional geometry.
